RACHEL

BAYNES

Rachel graduated in Physiotherapy from the University of East Anglia in 2003 and completed her junior rotations at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital working in a variety of areas such as respiratory, orthopaedics, elderly medical, learning difficulties, musculoskeletal and neurology. In senior posts Rachel has worked in a rapid assessment discharge team and community teams in Peterborough, Oxfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. Over the past 8 years and to date, Rachel has worked part time as a Specialist Neuro Physiotherapist where she is part of a bespoke multidisciplinary team rehabilitating people with acquired brain injury and stroke. She has knowledge of specialist neurological equipment such as Saeboflex, Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) and lycra garment orthoses. Rachel has completed level 1 and 2 training in PD Warrior, aiming to become licensed in the future. Alongside this work, Rachel runs Pilates classes and "Get Neuro-Active".  With a background in Sports Science she has maintained her interest in this area and kept her clinical skills in sports injuries updated alongside her work in neurology by working with local sports clubs providing 1st aid and pitch side care. So far the highlight of her career was working with the GB Women's Wheelchair Basketball.  

As a Neuro-Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist Rachel uses a holistic approach in her Physiotherapy assessment of movement analysis and draws upon her wide ranging toolbox of therapeutic skills including acupuncture and clinical pilates to correct movement dysfunction
